Newfoundland, Canada 1990

In 1990,  I was asked to create a presentation for the FOOD INSTITUTE OF CANADA, which was holding a meeting in Newfoundland, Canada.

Together with Chad Keck, we spoke to the group about industry structure and marketing topics.

Sadly, writing this post in 2025, I can't find the program or specifics and the organization no longer exists as named.   But we did have the opportunity to visit some parts of this province around the area of St. John's.

Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site

Cape Spear is the most easterly point of land on the North American continent. It boasts the oldest surviving lighthouse in Newfoundland and Labrador, built in 1836.  : The original Cape Spear Lighthouse, built in 1836, is the oldest surviving lighthouse in the province.  It is a National Historic Site in Canada, as it served as a vital aid to navigation for St. John's harbor and was the first purpose-built lighthouse on Newfoundland's east coast. It is also an excellent example of Neoclassical design applied to lighthouse architecture.

I do recall that potatoes were on every menu....

Keck & Co Business Consultants, which I founded in 1980, specialized in working with food processing and packaging equipment suppliers.
